We'll see how well this works to type - I have a VERY snuggly cat on my lap who is intent on pushing his face (and he's drooling!) into my hands in hopes that I'll scratch him! He is also mulching me with his paws and occasionally standing on his hind legs to shove his face into mine and block my view of the screen! Yes, Smacky's cute...but he's also VERY needy at times! And little Chilla is sitting next to the chair making cute noises and meowing...and now he joined Smacky on my lap, too! Please, go to sleep, both of you...!
Well, I have not blogged in almost 3 weeks! Sorry for those of you who check in regularly and are wondering where I'm at! I haven't been on Facebook much either! I have just been so busy! I do not know how I have so little time when I have neither a job nor children!! Part of the reason, I guess, that I have not been on the Internet a lot is that Lee has been home a fair bit and I generally only spend time online when I'm home alone.
I'll give you a little update about life for me since my last post. On September 27, Saturday, we had our small groups over for supper & Bible study for the first time this season. I made pizza buns. Actually I made one sheet of pizza buns and the other sheetful turned out to be more chili on buns! I was stressed about how they would turn out, but everybody seemed to like them.
I go for massages & to the chiropractor regularly and I had an appointment on Monday the 29th. My massage therapist (Hien Trinh) had gotten married on the 14th so I had not seen her since then, and when I got there I discovered she had broken her foot....2 days before her wedding!!! Poor girl. She did not get the cast put on until the day after her wedding, however, and then they went on their honeymoon. I felt bad for her hopping around me as I got my massage, but she is not the type of person to feel sorry for herself.
On October 2nd (Thursday) Lee & I went to the city for one reason - to get new lenses put into my glasses. We had been told it would take an hour. When we got there we discovered that they would have to order the lenses in which would take a week!! Grr!! Especially with gas so expensive (especially at the time)!! Apparently it was because over the phone they did not know my glasses are partly rimless. So it was a wasted trip. But we got some really good subs at Subway :)
We left that evening for Buffalo Point. There is a cabin there that my family rents for a weekend every fall, and we have been going for as long as I can remember. We were the last to arrive. For the most part the weekend was a lot of fun. The weather was chilly but nice. Perhaps I will post a blog with pictures entirely about that weekend.
On the 7th (Tuesday) I met up with my sister Vange & her 2 daughters to visit my Grandma for her 84th birthday. There was no planned party or anything; we just decided to drop in. I hadn't seen her for a long time and I knew she would appreciate a visit and also, as awful as it sounds, I know I would regret it if she passed away and I hadn't visited her. Like grandma's do, she gave us sweet hugs and stale snacks and yummy cookies and played us awful Low-German music, LOL. My uncle Larry dropped in as well, and that was neat. He is my dad's twin, and sometimes I catch myself staring, thinking, how can someone look and act so much like my dad, right down to the twinkle in the eye, and yet not be him?? I also felt grief, since my dad is mentally ill from all the psychiatric medication he is on & the shock treatments he has had, thinking, this is close to who my dad COULD still be. It was a good visit, though :)
On the 9th (Thursday) Lee & I went to a surprise baby shower for Chuck & Sabrina and their new baby girl Marin. Although I didn't know a lot of the people well, so I kept quiet for the most part, it was still a lot of fun. Lee went to a different house where the guys were hanging out at; he had to bring diapers. It was really awkward for me to go shopping for diapers, LOL! I had NO IDEA what to buy and I really didn't want anybody to see what I was buying, LOL! I gave Sabrina a candle I had stamped with Marin's full name & some flowers (which I'm totally assuming she won't light anywhere near the baby, lol). She got a lot of gifts, there were fun games, and lots and LOTS of really yummy food (I brought mini cheese balls & crackers) and desserts!! And I got to hold darling sleeping Marin as I ate DQ ice-cream cake - what a delicious combo :)
On the 10th (Friday) I got a haircut - nothing major or anything, and I don't really like it. And then we went to Pizza Hut with Lee's parents & Josh for Lee's birthday (which is October 16th). Lee got a tire in a box as his gift. Well, actually his gift was a wheelbarrow that he had to assemble. Which is ironic, because a wheelbarrow was one of the things on MY wish list!!
On the 11th (Saturday) we were running late all day but went to Vic (my brother) & Renee's house to talk about our upcoming trip to Montana/Idaho/Wyoming next week. (AAHH!!!) I had a miserable cold. Lee had a cold before Buffalo Point. Vic got a cold at Buffalo Point, as well as Renee and Acacia (their daughter) had colds. So I knew mine was coming in due time. Vic, however, got hit really hard and is still not better as far as I know. Pray we'll all be healthy by next week when we go on our trip! Acacia was cute and we got lots figured out. We didn't stay long as we had to leave to go to small groups at Derek & Kelly's. This year our small groups (we are 4 couples who get together every other Saturday) decided to do every other time a Bible study and every other time just a fun evening. Still always with supper though. Brad and I were both sick and Lee was tired, but it was a lot of fun as always.
Sunday the 12th after church we had a Wiebe family gathering. I was still sick and Lee was tense and I was frustrated so it wasn't the best gathering. However, the Skor trifle was AMAZING! We left before faspa to go to my parents' for their impromptu gathering and to stuff ourselves yet again. That gathering was a lot more enjoyable. The only downer for me was seeing my dad in the condition he is in and knowing we could help him if him & Mom were willing. Lee & Vic had lots of good conversation and I enjoyed playing table games & talking with the female side of the family :)
Yesterday the 13th Lee had off because it was Thanksgiving and so we spent time at home getting lots of stuff accomplished, which was our plan! We have a huge list of things that need to get done before we leave. Among other things, Lee got the skirting on the porch finished and the roof/lid attached to the cats house/shelter. Among other things, I made a recipe (Mexi-Corn Lasagna) I've been wanting to make for a long time which I had bought all the ingredients for a while back. It wasn't that great, though. Lee shared a lot of what was upsetting him about his parents & other stuff with me, and that was really good for us to have that conversation and to talk about spiritual things, which we don't do as often as I'd like. He is such a wonderful husband & person :)
I have a few other things to write about: the fire next door, elections stuff, kitten escapades...but I have stuff that needs to get done, so...another time!
P.S. Smacky left a while back to go sleep in the shelf next to me & Chilla is sound asleep on my lap :)
